This Chapter consists of the rules and regulations for the operation of the Police Department of this City.

There is hereby established a Department of Police of the City. The Department shall consist of the Police Chief and such Police Officers as the Board of Aldermen may provide.

The City of Branson West adopted a Policy and Procedure Manual for the Branson West Police Department on December 14, 2004. The manual and amendments thereto are on file in the City offices.

A. 
Branson West Police Officers are authorized to enforce the provisions of this City Code and State or Federal laws outside the City limits in the following circumstances:
1. 
Request from a County, State or Federal Law Enforcement Officer or Agency for assistance or as otherwise provided by law;
2. 
Emergency situation, where the officer on duty has a reasonable belief that a crime is about to be committed, is being committed, or an accident has occurred involving injury or threat of injury to any person or property; and
3. 
A continuing pursuit outside City limits may be made by a City Officer citified under Chapter 590, RSMo., for an suspect who is reasonably believed to have committed a felony in this State, or has committed or attempted to commit any act constituting a crime, offense or violation of municipal ordinance in the presence of the officer, or the person has an outstanding arrest warrant; provided that the pursuit is instituted from within City limits, is conducted pursuant to vehicular pursuit policies as have been adopted by the Branson West Police Department, and is terminated if contact is lost at any point after leaving City limits.
