There is established a Bureau of Fire Prevention in the Fire
Department of the City.

A. The Bureau of Fire Prevention shall operate under the supervision
and direction of the Chief of the Fire Department (Fire Chief). The
Fire Chief or his/her designee shall be the Chief Inspector and Code
Official of the Bureau of Fire Prevention.
B. The Fire Chief may designate and appoint such inspectors as may from
time to time be authorized by the City Manager.

The Fire Chief shall prepare instructions for use by inspectors
of the Bureau of Fire Prevention and such forms for their use as he/she
may deem required under this Chapter.

The Prosecuting Attorney, upon request of the Fire Chief, shall
assist in the investigation of any fire which, in the opinion of the
Fire Chief, is of suspicious origin.

The Fire Chief shall investigate and recommend to the City Manager
such additional ordinances, or amendments to existing ordinances,
as he/she may deem necessary to safeguard life and property.

A. The Fire Chief shall make an annual report on the operations of the
Bureau of Fire Prevention to the City Manager on or before January
thirty-first (31st) each year. Such reports shall contain all information
required under the provisions of this Chapter with such statistics
as the Fire Chief may wish to include.
B. The Fire Chief may recommend any amendment to any ordinance which,
in his/her judgment, would be desirable and beneficial in the prevention
of fire in the City.
