The City Collector shall, within fifteen (15) days after his/her appointment and before entering on the discharge of his/her official duties, execute a bond to the City of Platte City in the sum of twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000.00) with two (2) or more sufficient personal sureties or a corporate surety to be approved by the Board of Aldermen. The condition of said bond shall be that he/she will promptly, honestly and faithfully discharge the duties of his/her office, account for and pay over to the City Finance Officer all money belonging to the City received by him/her from all sources which shall come into his/her hands for the City and shall turn daily deposits into the City Finance Officer or other designated person to deposit into the previously designated City depository. The cost of such bond shall be paid by the City of Platte City; however, should the City Collector be covered by a blanket bond to the same extent, such individual bond shall not be required.

The City Collector shall prepare daily deposits of all money collected or all City funds which come into the Collector's possession.

The City Collector shall pay to the Finance Officer daily all money received and collected by him/her from all sources which may be levied by law or ordinances and all licenses of every description authorized by ordinances to be collected and all monies belonging to the City which may come into his/her hands.

The salary of the Collector shall be a sum as set by the Board from time to time.

It shall be the duty of the Collector to collect and receive all general licenses and fees which may from time to time be fixed by ordinance, unless provided otherwise by ordinance.

The offices of the City Clerk and City Collector shall be and remain separate offices and shall not be held by the same person.
