A certain document, one (1) copy of which is on file in the
office of the City Clerk of the City of Platte City, being marked
and designated as the 2017 National Electrical Code as published by
the National Fire Protection Association, be and is hereby adopted
as the Electrical Code of the City of Platte City, in the State of
Missouri; for regulating the design, construction, quality of materials,
erection, installation, alteration, repair, location, relocation,
replacement, addition to, use or maintenance of electrical systems
in the City of Platte City and providing for the issuance of permits
and collection of fees therefor; and each and all of the regulations,
provisions, conditions, and terms of such 2017 National Electrical
Code, published by the National Fire Protection Association, on file
in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Platte City are hereby
referred to, adopted and made part hereof as if fully set out in this
Article.

A. The following Sections of the National Electrical Code adopted in
this Article are hereby revised:
1.
Permit fee schedule. Addition:
The fees for all electrical work shall be as indicated in the following fee schedule established in Section
500.510 of the Platte City Municipal Code.
2.
406.12 Tamper-Resistant Receptacles for Dwelling Units. Deleted.
3.
210.12 Arc-Fault Circuit-Interrupter Protection. Delete this Section in its entirely and in its place the following
arc-fault circuit-interrupter (AFCI) requirement is adopted:
Arc-fault circuit-interrupter (AFCI) protection branch circuits
that supply 120-volt, single phase 15- and 20-ampere receptacles installed
in all bedrooms shall be protected by a combination type arc-fault
circuit interrupter installed to provide protection of the branch
circuits.

334.12 Uses
Not Permitted. Amended use:
Type NM, NMC and NMS cables shall not be permitted as follows:
(A) Types NM, NMC and NMS.
1. In any dwelling or structure not specifically permitted in 334.10(1),
(2), (3), and (5).
2. Exposed within a dropped or suspended ceiling cavity in other than
one- and two-family and multi-family dwellings.
3. As a service-entrance cable.
4. In commercial garages having hazardous (classified) locations as
defined in 511.3.
5. In theaters and similar locations, except where permitted in 518.4(8).22
6. In motion picture studios.
7. In storage battery rooms.
8. In hoistways or on elevators or escalators.
9. Embedded in poured cement, concrete or aggregate.
10. In hazardous (classified) locations, except where specifically permitted
by other articles in this Code.
11. In any occupancy other than Group R.
(B) Types NM and NMS. Types NM and NMS cables shall not be used under
the following conditions or in the following locations:
1. Where exposed to corrosive fumes or vapors.
2. Where embedded in masonry, concrete, adobe, fill, or plaster.
3. In a shallow chase in masonry, concrete, adobe and covered with plaster,
adobe, or similar finish.
4. In wet or damp locations.

All other ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith
are hereby repealed.

Nothing in this Article or in the National Electrical Code hereby adopted shall be construed to affect any suit or proceeding impending in any court, or any rights acquired, or liability incurred, or any cause or causes or action acquired or existing, under any act or ordinance hereby repealed as cited in Section
500.330 of this Article; nor shall any just or legal right or remedy of any character be lost, impaired or affected by this Article.

Any person who shall violate a provision of the code adopted
in this Article or shall fail to comply with any of the requirements
thereof or who shall erect, construct, alter or repair a building
or structure in violation of an approved plan of or directive of the
Code Official, or of a permit or certificate issued under the provision
of this code, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, punishable by a fine
as follows: for municipal ordinance violations committed within a
twelve-month period beginning with the first violation: two hundred
dollars ($200.00) for the first municipal ordinance violation, two
hundred seventy-five dollars ($275.00) for the second municipal ordinance
violation, three hundred fifty dollars ($350.00) for the third municipal
ordinance violation, and four hundred fifty dollars ($450.00) for
the fourth and any subsequent municipal ordinance violations; Each
day that a violation continues after due notice has been served shall
be deemed a separate offense.
