The General Election Laws of the State of Missouri, insofar as the same are applicable, shall apply and govern all elections held within the City of Herculaneum.

A. 
The City of Herculaneum is divided into three (3) wards, such wards described as follows:
1. 
Ward One shall consist of all that part of the City north of Joachim Creek and east of the centerline of Joachim Avenue, plus all residents residing on Station Street to the south of Joachim Creek.
2. 
Ward Two shall consist of all that part of the City lying between the centerline of Joachim Avenue and Interstate 55 which are to the north of McNutt Street and to the north or east of Riverview, with the following exceptions and special provisions:
a. 
All persons living on Riverview and Mississippi Drive shall be in Ward Two.
b. 
Ward Two excludes the property owned by Buchheit's near the intersection of McNutt Street and U.S. 61-67.
c. 
Ward Two excludes Station Street, said street having been designated as part of Ward One as set forth in Subsection (1) herein.
3. 
Ward Three shall consist of the remainder of the City not described in Wards One or Two above and shall include that part of the City to the south of McNutt Street and to the south or west of Riverview (except that all residents living on Riverview shall be in Ward Two), and Ward Three shall also consist of all of the part of the City to the west of Interstate 55.
4. 
The boundaries herein are designed and intended to conform with the map on file in the City offices and incorporated herein by reference.

A general election shall be held on the first Tuesday in April of each calendar year. Special elections shall be called at such times required by law or by ordinance. The terms of office for those officials to be elected shall be as prescribed by law.

Any person who desires to become a candidate for an elective City office at the general City election shall file with the City Clerk, not prior to the hour of 8:00 A.M. on the 16th Tuesday prior to, nor later than 5:00 P.M. on the 11th Tuesday prior to, the next City municipal election, a written declaration of his/her intent to become a candidate at said election. The City Clerk shall keep a permanent record of the names of the candidates, the offices for which they seek election, and the date of their filing, and their names shall appear on the ballots in that order.
