There is hereby created in and for the City an Animal Control Board.

The Animal Control Board shall be composed of five (5) members.

The Mayor shall appoint the members of the Animal Control Board, subject to the approval of the City Council.

The members of the Animal Control Board shall serve for terms of three (3) years each; provided that the first (1st) members of such Board shall be appointed in such manner that their terms shall be staggered.

The members of the Animal Control Board shall choose a Chairman from among their number, which Chairman shall serve for a term of one (1) year or until his/her successor is chosen and qualified.

The Animal Control Board shall adopt such rules and regulations as may be necessary for the transaction of its business. Any member missing two (2) consecutive meetings without properly notifying the Board can be removed from the Board, after a certified letter has been sent and the City Manager so deems it.

The Animal Control Board shall hold at least one (1) meeting per quarter and may hold such other meetings as deemed necessary.

The Animal Control Board shall serve as an advisory board for the enforcement of the provisions of this Chapter and perform such other duties as may be imposed by the City Council.
