Political signs are hereby prohibited from utility
poles within the boundaries of the Town of Johnston. Utility poles
are to include telephone and electrical poles.
The candidate for the elected office shall be
responsible if signs are placed on the poles by their campaigns.
Candidates for the elected offices shall, upon
notification of the violation by the Police Department or employee
of said utility, remove the sign forthwith. If after notification
the sign is not removed, a fine of $25 per violation will be imposed.

A.
For the purposes of the article, the term "utility pole" shall mean
any pole erected by a utility company with the permission from the
Town for the purpose of transmitting any utility service.
B.
No sign shall be placed upon any utility pole except by the state
or the Town, with the exception of a sign advertising a residential
yard sale. The residential yard sale sign may not exceed four square
feet in size. The sign and any hardware used to attach the sign to
the pole must be removed within 48 hours after the date of the yard
sale.

Violations of this provision shall be punishable by a fine of $25.
