A. 
There may be active or associate members of the Seaside Park Volunteer Fire Company who may also be designated as fire police pursuant to N.J.S.A. 15:8-4. These members shall serve for a five-year term and be at the direction of the (Administrative Chief). Before commencing their duties as fire police, a background check must be conducted. Such members must qualify as fire police by taking and subscribing to an oath to be administered by the Borough Clerk that they shall justly, impartially and faithfully discharge their duties to the best of their ability and understanding. Fire police shall perform their duties under the supervision of the fire office in charge of the fire or fire drill. Such duties shall include:
(1) 
Protection of property and contents;
(2) 
Establishing and maintaining fire lines;
(3) 
Performing such traffic duties as necessary, from the fire station to and at the vicinity of the fire, fire drill or other emergency call, until the arrival of a duly authorized officer;
(4) 
In the absence of investigating authorities, investigating all causes of fire and the preserving of all evidence pertaining to questionable fires, and the turning over of evidence to proper investigating authorities;
(5) 
Wearing the authorized fire police badge while on duty; and
(6) 
Nothing set forth in this subsection is intended to give the fire police the right to supersede a duly authorized police officer.
B. 
All other provisions of N.J.S.A. 15:8-4 and any subsequent amendments thereto, are hereby incorporated in and made a part of this chapter.
C. 
If any person shall unreasonably refuse to obey the orders of the fire police, such fire police may arrest him and keep him under arrest until the fire is extinguished or the call is completed. If the offender is found guilty by a Municipal Court or Superior Court, he shall be sentenced to pay a fine not exceeding $200 and costs.
