It shall be a misdemeanor for any person or entity to store or maintain any inoperable, abandoned or discarded refrigerator or freezer or other similar equipment, or to use any refrigerator, freezer or other similar equipment for any purpose other than the storage or smoking of perishable food items, without first removing the doors, locks or latches, or without adequately securing the doors or without first taking other precautions to effectively prevent any person or animal from being inadvertently or otherwise locked therein.

A violation of any section of this chapter is a misdemeanor punishable as provided in § 1-6 of the Village Code.
