The office of Mayor shall become vacant upon death, resignation, removal from office or forfeiture of office by a court or conviction of any felony or a crime relating to the office of Mayor. Forfeiture of office shall occur if the Mayor is absent from three consecutive regular meetings of the Borough Council without having been excused by the Council.

A. 
The Council President shall act as Mayor whenever the Mayor is unable to attend to the duties of his office, and he shall possess all of the rights, powers and duties of the Mayor.
B. 
If the disability of the Mayor to attend to his duties persists for 60 consecutive days, the Borough Council shall appoint one of its members as Acting Mayor and such member shall succeed to all of the rights, powers and duties of the Mayor or of the then Acting Mayor, as the case may be, until such time as the disability of the Mayor ceases, a vacancy occurs in the office of Mayor or the term of office of the Mayor expires.
