The City Council hereby establishes the Advisory Committee on
Immigrant Affairs as follows.
The responsibilities of the Committee shall be to:
A.
Recommend to the City Council and Administration actions, practices,
and policies to address the concerns, needs, and interests of New
Rochelle's immigrants.
B.
Facilitate constructive dialogue between immigrants and decisionmakers
in local government.
C.
Enhance access of immigrants to public services and information.
D.
Work closely with City officials to support the development of community
programs that may be of interest or benefit to immigrants.
E.
As needed and requested, serve as a resource for other New Rochelle
community and public agencies with regard to immigration and immigrant-related
matters.
F.
Highlight the contributions of immigrants to the economic, cultural,
and civic life of New Rochelle.
G.
Expand opportunities for civic participation and leadership among
immigrants.
H.
Promote mutual understanding and appreciation between immigrant and
native-born residents.
