It shall be the duty of the owner of a principal building, as defined in Chapter 200, Zoning, in the Village of Ardsley, to place on the property a number assigned by the Village Clerk as described below.
A.
Said number shall be posted in a conspicuous location that is visible
from the street, shall be a minimum of four inches in height, and
shall either be made of reflective material or shall contrast with
the background on which it is mounted.
B.
Said number shall not be posted on an entry door, garage door or
other surface or device that would prevent the number from being seen
if such door, surface or device is in an open position.
C.
If said number is not readily visible from the road, or if the house
for which said number is to be posted is more than 50 feet from the
road, said number shall be posted at the driveway entrance on a mailbox,
post, wall or other surface at a height of at least 36 inches but
not more than 60 inches above the ground.
Said number shall be maintained in legible manner so that is
visible from the road at all times and not obscured or obstructed
by items such as, but not limited to, dirt, debris, plants, weeds,
leaves, trees and snow.
Any person committing an offense against any provision of this
chapter shall, upon conviction thereof, be guilty of a violation pursuant
to the Penal Law of the State of New York, punishable by a fine not
exceeding $250 or by imprisonment for a term not exceeding 15 days,
or by both such fine and imprisonment. The continuation of an offense
against the provisions of this chapter shall constitute, for each
day the offense is continued, a separate and distinct offense hereunder.
