Every owner of any occupied or tenanted building
of three stories or more in height shall erect and maintain suitable
fire escapes on the outside thereof to afford easy and convenient
access from all floors to the ground.

Any person, corporation or association violating
any of the provisions of this article shall, upon conviction thereof,
be punishable by a fine of not less than $250 nor more than $1,000
or a term of imprisonment not exceeding one year, or both.
