It shall be unlawful for any person to erect or maintain or cause or permit to be erected or maintained on any sidewalk, street or public place in the Village of New Hyde Park any bench, table, showcase, booth or vehicle or other structure for the display of goods, wares or merchandise or to set or place or cause or permit to be set or placed any goods, wares or merchandise or other articles, by way of exposing the same for sale or otherwise, upon or over any sidewalk or public place; provided, however, that this section shall not be construed to prohibit merchants and others from the free use of the sidewalks and public places in common with others in conveying merchandise and other property to and from their stores and places of business while engaged in receiving or delivering the same.
As used in this article, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
PERSON
Includes one or more persons of either sex, natural persons, corporations, partnerships, associations, joint-stock companies, societies and all other entities of any kind capable of being sued.
