[HISTORY: Adopted by the City Council of the City of Haverhill as Ch. 3 of the 1963 City Code (Ch. 101 of the 1980 Code). Amendments noted where applicable.]
GENERAL REFERENCES
Fire Department and Police Department — See Ch. 32, Arts. III and VI.
Private ambulance service is hereby established.
Every vehicle used as an ambulance shall be of modern design, with safety lights, as required by the Chief of Police, and a siren; shall be fully insured; shall be properly tended to by trained personnel; and shall be fully equipped for emergency care and treatment of injured or ill persons.
No motor vehicle used as an ambulance shall be operated on the public streets for hire unless licensed as herein provided.

Licenses provided in § 101-3 shall be issued by the City Clerk, who shall collect therefor the sum of $100 for each license so issued. The number of such licenses shall be determined by the City Council.

A public ambulance service is hereby established for the City.
The Fire Department shall control the transportation of all persons requiring relief and assistance, both from and to points within the City limits, and to points beyond, and may impose and collect charges therefor.
