The position of Deputy Borough Clerk is hereby established.
The Deputy Borough Clerk, appointed as such by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Council, shall be appointed annually for a one-year term.
The Deputy Borough Clerk shall receive such compensation as the Mayor and Council shall annually determine by ordinance or resolution.
The Deputy Borough Clerk shall perform such services as may be determined by the Mayor and Council and shall, in all respects, assist the Borough Clerk in the performance of the Borough Clerk's duties for the municipality.
The Deputy Borough Clerk shall, in the absence of the Borough Clerk, attend all meetings of the Council, keep a correct record of all its proceedings and perform such other duties as may normally be required of the Borough Clerk and also as the Mayor and Council may require or as may be directed by law and, while acting in the absence of the Borough Clerk, shall have all the power and authority of the Borough Clerk and perform such duties in all Borough matters as the Borough Clerk would have performed.
