Short title. This chapter shall be known and may be cited as the "Cheltenham Township Plumbing Code."

Scope. The provisions of this chapter shall apply to all plumbing and drainage work for any building or structure located within the Township and to all drains, pipes and connections which empty into the sanitary sewer system or septic tanks of the Township.

Definitions. As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:

PLUMBING AND DRAINAGE WORK

Includes, but is not limited to, additions to; alterations of; repair, replacement or relocation of any water supply, sanitary sewer, drainage or similar piping including the main drain and/or lateral.

(1)

"Plumbing and Drainage Work" shall not include the following, provided work denoted in Subsections C(1)(a) through (d) is completed on or in valves, pipes or fixtures located within a structure and no pipes are replaced or rearranged.

(a)

Replacement of faucets;

(b)

Removal and reinstallation of plumbing fixtures in the same location;

(c)

Stopping leaks in a drain, water, soil, waste or vent pipe; or

(d)

Clearing stoppages in pipes, valves or fixtures.

(2)

Any such work completed outside the structure shall be considered "plumbing and drainage work," with the exception of the repair or replacement of outside faucets, rain gutters, downspouts and similar drains conveying stormwater to a lawful disposal location.
