Numerical identification of each dwelling, business or industry in the
Town of Agawam is to be provided by the owner and is to be placed in a clearly
visible location on the structure located on the nearest exposure to the street.
In the event that such structure is located 200 feet or more from the roadway,
or in the event that such structure is not visible from the roadway, a numbered
signpost shall be erected in a conspicuous location on or near the street
entryway to the structure.
Identifying numbers must be a minimum of three inches in height and
be of a contrasting color so as to be visible from the roadway day or night.
All structures are to be so numbered within 90 days of the effective
date of this chapter. Enforcement of this chapter will be the responsibility
of the Fire Department for existing structures and the Building Department
for newly constructed structures prior to issuance of a certificate of occupancy
permit.
Noncompliance with this chapter within the prescribed time and following
written notice will result in a fine of $15 and an additional $15 for each
thirty-day period thereafter.
