[HISTORY: Adopted by the Board of Trustees of the Village of Airmont 6-18-2002 by L.L. No. 2-2002. Amendments noted where applicable.]
Commencing at the beginning of the official year following the next general Village election at which any of the offices of Mayor and Trustees are to be filled, and each Village election thereafter, the terms of office of Mayor and Trustees shall be four years instead of two years.
Subject to § 52-3 below, if this chapter becomes effective more than 30 days prior to the Village general election of 2003 and after the Village general election of 2002, Village general elections shall henceforward be held biennially, in odd-numbered years.
If this chapter becomes effective more than 30 days prior to the general Village election of 2003, the successors to the Trustees whose terms of office expires in an even-numbered year shall at the general Village election preceding the expiration of such terms be elected to a single five-year term, and their successors shall thereafter be elected for terms of four years.[1]
