The rules and regulations of the Putnam County Sheriff's Department, as promulgated and amended from time to time by the Sheriff, shall take effect upon repeal of L.L. No. 1 of 1975, pursuant to state law.

A. 
The County Executive of Putnam County, who has sole power to request and grant police assistance as described in section 209-m of the New York State General Municipal Law, may delegate such power to the Putnam County Sheriff.
B. 
Such delegation may be revoked by the County Executive at any time.
C. 
Upon delegation of authority, the Sheriff may exercise those powers contained in section 209-m of the New York State General Municipal Law unless and until such delegation is revoked.
D. 
As stated in section 209-m(1)(c) of the New York State General Municipal Law, any delegation to the Sheriff under this section shall also include any police officer in command of the police department or police force of a local government during the absence, illness or disability of the Sheriff or who is authorized to exercise the powers of the Sheriff in emergency situations.
E. 
Any request to grant or receive aid must be reported to the Putnam County Legislature within 48 hours.
