A. 
The publication of the National Fire Protection Association entitled "National Electrical Code," in the edition as referred to in the BOCA Codes, with all its supplements, changes, revisions, additions and amendments thereto, shall be the Electrical Code of the Borough of Media, Delaware County.
B. 
A certain document, three copies of which are on file in the office of the Borough of Media Secretary's office, being marked and designated as the NFPA 70 - National Electric Code, all subsequent supplements and revisions thereto as published by the National Fire Protective Association and all subsequent supplements and revisions thereto, be and is hereby adopted as the Electrical Code of the Borough of Media, Delaware County, Pennsylvania; for the control of buildings and structures as herein provided; in each and all of the regulations, provisions, penalties, conditions and terms of National Electrical Code are hereby referred to, adopted and made a part hereof, as if fully set out in this chapter.
A. 
The term "Code Official" as stated throughout the book of codes shall be defined as the Building Officer, and said officer shall be the borough's Secretary unless the Council, by motion, appoints another person to be said officer. It shall be said Building Officer's duty to enforce any provisions and regulations of the Media Building Code.[1]

B. 
Building Inspector. In addition to the Building Officer, the Council may, by motion, appoint a Building Inspector. His duty shall be to enforce the provisions of this code, under and at the direction of the Building Officer.
C. 
Plumbing Inspector. In addition to the Building Officer, the Council may, by motion, appoint a Plumbing Inspector whose duty it shall be to enforce the plumbing code adopted hereby and any specific provisions of the BOCA National Plumbing Code, Ordinance No. 855, relating to plumbing, under and at the direction of the Building Officer.[2]

D. 
Electrical inspection. Electrical inspection shall be done by a qualified underwriter electric and fire inspection enforcing agency. There shall be cut cards sent to the Borough of Media by the inspection agency.
A. 
The designations of the subsections herein provided, of this chapter shall be the section designations of the aforementioned BOCA Building and Electrical Codes and are substantially related.
B. 
Reference to the codes and appendixes in or of the BOCA Building Code shall, for the purposes hereof, be considered as part of the BOCA Building Code and collectively referred to as a part thereof, but only as made applicable thereby or by this chapter.
C. 
As between the provisions of this chapter and the BOCA Building Code, the latter shall be the basic Building and Plumbing and Electrical Codes and be controlling except as to the portions changed or made inapplicable by this chapter. Wherein this chapter provides for procedures or regulations differing from those set forth in the BOCA Building and Plumbing and Electrical Codes, the procedures or regulations of the BOCA Building Code are rendered inapplicable; wherein there may be no ambiguity or conflict between the provisions of this chapter and the BOCA Building Code, the provisions of this chapter shall apply; and wherein provisions of this chapter and those of the BOCA Building Code create no conflict or ambiguity, the provisions of both shall apply and they shall be read together to establish one procedure or regulation.
The Zoning Law herein referred to shall be the Media Zoning Ordinance No. 823 in effect and as amended or changed as of the date of any application for any permit hereunder and payment made therefor. Such parts of or sections of said ordinance, which also regulate in the scope of this chapter, are repealed hereby or, if adopted hereafter, are hereby made inapplicable; if an ambiguity or conflict arises between the terms of this chapter and such Zoning Ordinance, the terms, provisions and regulations of this chapter shall repeal and take precedence, unless said Zoning Ordinance specifically makes a conflicting section of it controlling over this chapter.
Permits for electrical work would be included in the building permit application.
This section is reserved for the establishment of electrical permits and fees. Until established, no separate fee or permit shall be required for electrical work.
The Building Officer, Building Inspector or Plumbing Inspector shall not hire or engage the services of any other person without the approval of Borough Council.

That certain documents, three copies of which are on file in the office of the Code Enforcement Officer, being marked and designated National Electrical Safety Code, 1993 Edition, published by the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, Inc., be and is hereby adopted as the Code of the Borough of Media for regulating the matters set for forth fully in the above preamble of this article.[1] On file in the office of the Borough of Media are hereby referred to, adopted and made a part hereof as if fully set out in this article.
