An annual pension shall be paid upon the death of any member of the Fire Department of the Town of West New York, the death of whom shall have been or shall be occasioned from injuries received in the performance of duty as a member of the Fire Department of the Town of West New York.
The pension provided for herein shall not exceed annually 1/2 of the annual salary of such deceased member at the time of his death and shall be payable in equal semimonthly installments on the first and 15th days of each and every month.
The pension provided for in this article is granted pursuant to Sections 43:12-26, 43:12-27 and 43:12-28 of the Revised Statutes of New Jersey, 1937.[1] The pension granted under the authority of the provisions of said sections shall be in addition to any pension allowed pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 16, Section 43:16-1 et seq., of the Revised Statutes of New Jersey, 1937.

Such pension shall be paid as follows: In case there be a widow and children of such deceased member of the Fire Department, such pension shall be paid to the widow for the use of herself and the children; and in case there be children and no widow of the deceased member of the Fire Department, then such pension shall be paid to such of the children as have not attained the age of 16 years, in equal shares; provided that if there are only two such children, the pension hereby provided for shall in no event exceed the sum of $50 per month for each child; and if there be only one child, the sum of $75 per month; provided further that if any such widow shall remarry then no part of such pension shall be paid to her, but such pension may then be paid as if the said deceased member of the Fire Department had died leaving him surviving a minor child or children under the age of 16 years and no widow; provided further that no pension shall be paid under the provisions of this article after the death of the widow and the arrival at the age of 16 of all the children of any such deceased member of the Fire Department.
The pension provided for herein shall be raised by taxation and shall be placed in the annual budget.
