A. 
Appointment.
(1) 
The County Commissioners shall appoint a County Attorney each year for a one-year term.
(2) 
Notwithstanding Subsection A(1) of this section, the County Attorney may be removed by the County Commissioners at will.
B. 
Qualifications. The County Attorney shall be a:
(1) 
Member in good standing of the Queen Anne's County Bar; and
(2) 
Qualified voter of the County.
C. 
Duties The County Attorney shall:
(1) 
Be the general legal advisor to the County Commissioners; and
(2) 
Represent the County Commissioners in any legal matter, including in any litigation or proceeding before any court, regulatory body, or other governmental authority in the State of Maryland.
D. 
Compensation. The County Attorney is entitled to:
(1) 
The compensation set by the County Commissioners; and
(2) 
Expenses incurred in the performance of the County Attorney's duties.
