[HISTORY: Adopted by the Borough Council of the Borough of Economy 1-9-2001 by Ord. No. 380. This ordinance also superseded former Ch. 55, Building Construction, adopted 6-10-1997 by Ord. No. 361. Amendments noted where applicable.]

There are hereby adopted by the Borough of Economy for the purpose of establishing rules and regulations for the construction, alteration, removal, repair, demolition, maintenance and occupancy, including permits and penalties, the following codes:
A. 
The 2000 International Building Code.
B. 
The 2000 International Residential Code.
C. 
The 2000 International Property Maintenance Code.
D. 
The 2000 International Fire Code
The following amendments and modifications to the codes have been adopted:
A. 
Qualifications for the Board of Appeals are changed to: The three primary Council members on the Ordinance and Recreation Committee, as well as the Borough Engineer and Borough Solicitor.
B. 
The penalty for violations is changed to: Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions of the code or failing to comply with any order issued pursuant to any section thereof shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction thereof, shall be punished by a fine not less than $300 and not in excess of $1,000 for each violation. In default of payment of such fine, the violator shall be subject to imprisonment in the Beaver County Jail for a period not in excess of 30 days. Each day that a violation continues, after a service of notice as provided for in the code, shall be deemed a separate offense.
All fees associated with the building codes and related permits shall be governed by the most recent Fees Resolution, as adopted by Borough Council, and may be changed from time to time via resolution as Council deems necessary.[1]
