As used herein, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
BOARD
The Board of Administration provided for in Article III of Part 1 of this chapter.
CREDITED SERVICE
Computed to the nearest 1/12 year, time commencing when a person qualifies as an employee under the plan pursuant to the definition of "employee" below and ending with the date upon which an employee ceases to be an employee as defined below, subject to the limitations set forth in Article VII of this Part 1.
A. 
An employee shall be deemed to be an employee of the Town during all periods in which the person is in an employment relation with the Town.
B. 
Credited service for police employees may include periods of military service in the United States Armed Forces, prior approved police service within or without the Town and sick leave in excess of one year, so long as all costs determined by the actuary for the plan related to said additional periods of service for members of Local 331 IBPO are borne by the employee. Such additionally purchased credited service may exceed the limits set forth in Article VII, § 51-15A, below.
EMPLOYEE
Any person who, on or after the effective date, is a police employee of the Town; provided, however, that the term shall exclude those who regularly perform services for the Town for less than 30 hours per week and with less than 1,500 hours per year. Each employee shall qualify as an employee under the plan on the employee's date of hire.
POLICE EMPLOYEE
An employee who is a regular full-time permanent investigating and uniformed member of the Farmington Police Department having the authority to exercise police powers.
SUPERVISORY POLICE EMPLOYEE
A police employee, as defined above, who has the rank of Captain or Chief of Police.
