Section 89 of Chapter 64 of the Laws of 1909, entitled "An Act Relating
to Villages, Constituting Chapter Sixty-Four of the Consolidated Laws," as
amended, is hereby amended by inserting therein a new subdivision, to be Subdivision
41-a, to read as follows:
§ 41-a. Escalators.

May construct, maintain and operate an escalator for the purpose of
gaining convenient access by the public to an elevated station or platform
leading to and from railroad facilities where a grade crossing
elimination has resulted in raising or lowering railroad or railway tracks,
and may purchase all equipment, apparatus and machinery necessary therefor,
and for the purposes thereof may acquire by purchase, gift or lease any lands
or rights therein. The cost of the construction, maintenance and operation
of such escalator and the lands or rights in lands acquired therefor shall
be a general Village charge.
