Editor’s Note: This local law also repealed former Art. I, Unlawful Use of Water, adopted 2-22-1971 by L.L. No. 1-1971 as Ch. 130 of the 1971 Code.
The purpose of this article is to establish a comprehensive plan for water conservation and regulation throughout the Village of Rockville Centre (Village), and for enforcement of regulations, in compliance with laws and regulations promulgated by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation for water conservation and the County of Nassau. Further, the purpose of this article is to conserve, protect and manage the water supply within the Village and to impose restrictions to regulate and limit the use of water.
During the hours of 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., all persons are prohibited from the use of water to water, hose, sprinkle or otherwise irrigate any outdoor lawn, field, garden, hedge or shrub.
A. 
Other than between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., persons occupying residences or other premises with even-number addresses may water, hose, sprinkle or otherwise irrigate on even-numbered days of the month.
B. 
Other than between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., persons occupying residences or other premises with odd-number addresses may water, hose, sprinkle or otherwise irrigate on odd-numbered days of the month.
All commercial and industrial water-operative systems, refrigeration or other water-cooling equipment must be equipped with a water-recycling system.
All commercial car washes and all fleet vehicle washes must install water-recycling systems.
Any person who shall violate any provision of this article shall, upon conviction, be subject to a maximum fine of $250 or a maximum term of imprisonment of 15 days, or both, for each offense.
