Property maintenance — See Ch. 295.
All owners of property located in the Village of Superior, Douglas County, Wisconsin, on which property is growing grass or noxious weeds, shall mow said property at least once during the month of June and once during the month of August or when the grass or noxious weeds reach 12 inches in height.

It shall be unlawful to permit within the Village of Superior, Douglas County, Wisconsin, the pollination of any grasses or weeds which cause or produce hay fever in human beings. In order to prevent such pollination, none of the following grasses and no weeds of any kind shall be permitted to grow or stand more than one foot high on any premises in the Village: meadow grass (Poa annua), bull grass (Paspalum vasyanum), Bermuda grass (Capriola dactylon), smut grass (Sporabulas angustus), Johnson grass (Andropogon halapense), feather grass (Leptochloa filiformis), foxtail grass (Chaetochloa glauca) and cockspur grass (Panicum crus-galli).
In addition to the penalties hereinafter set forth, in case any owner of property shall fail to comply with the requirements as set forth in §§ 142-1 and 142-2, then in that event it shall be the duty of the Village official of the Village of Superior to have said property mowed and report in writing to the Village Clerk-Treasurer the cost for so doing, and said Village Clerk-Treasurer shall spread the same as a special tax on the tax roll against the property owner for whom the service was rendered.[2]

Editor's Note: By resolution adopted 7-10-2008 the Village Board set a minimum rate of $75 per hour for mowing lots in the Village of Superior.
Any person who violates the provisions of § 142-2 of this chapter with respect to the pollination of any grasses or weeds which cause or produce hay fever in human beings shall be punished as provided in Chapter 1, § 1-4, General penalty, of the Code of the Village of Superior.
