Peace and good order — See Ch. 180.
The discharge of firearms and other deadly weapons is hereby prohibited in the following areas:
A. 
That area located within the Town which is within the following boundaries: from the intersection of Tiogue Avenue (RI Route 3) and Arnold Road, running easterly to the intersection of Tiogue Avenue and North Road, thence running southerly along North Road to Tiffany Road, thence running southeasterly along Tiffany Road to New London Turnpike, thence running southwesterly along New London Turnpike to Arnold Road, thence running northerly along Arnold Road to the point and place of beginning.
B. 
That area within the Town which is located within the following boundaries: from the intersection of Sandy Bottom Road and Tiogue Avenue (RI Route 3); thence running northerly along Sandy Bottom Road to Main Street (RI Route 117), thence running easterly along Main Street (Washington Street) to the boundary between the Town and the Town of West Warwick, thence running southerly along the towns' boundary to Tiogue Avenue, thence running westerly along Tiogue Avenue to the point and place of beginning.
A. 
This section shall not apply to law enforcement officers or military personnel engaged in the discharge of their official duties.
B. 
Shotguns may be used in other unposted and open areas of the Town in the pursuit of game during the hunting season designated by the state. The pursuit of game shall be in conformity with all of the hunting laws, rules and regulations of the state and its agencies. No firearm or deadly weapon of any type may be carried upon the highway while loaded, and no shotgun or other deadly weapon shall be discharged within 250 yards of any occupied dwelling, house, park, playground, public road, posted land or other building occupied by human beings, or any barn, stable or other building used in connection therewith.
Any person who violates any provision of this chapter shall be subject to the penalties set forth in Chapter 1, General Provisions, § 1-2, of the Code of the Town of Coventry.
