No person owning, harboring or having the control
or custody of a dog shall permit such dog:
A.
To run at large in the Village of North Haven, without
being muzzled, elsewhere than on the premises of such person or on
the premises of another person with the consent of such other person,
unless such person is engaged in hunting wild birds or animals with
the aid of such dog, during open seasons, or unless such person shall
take such dog afield for training in hunting.
B.
To be at any time on any street, highway, park or
public place in the Village of North Haven, without being muzzled,
unless fully controlled by the owner or some other person by means
of a rope, leash or other similar device.
C.
To be taken into any establishment in the Village
of North Haven where food products are kept for sale if legible signs
are displayed at each public entrance to such establishment to the
effect that the entry of dogs is prohibited or to be taken upon or
in any other establishment where food or food products are kept for
sale unless such dog is effectively restrained by a rope, leash or
other similar device.

Editor's Note: A resolution of 10-7-1975 authorized
the Town Dog Warden to enforce all regulations relating to dog control
which are effective in the Village.
The person who has last obtained the issuance
of a license for a dog pursuant to the provisions of the Agriculture
and Markets Law, or any similar law, shall be presumed, for the purpose
of this chapter, to be the owner of such dog.
As used in this chapter, the following terms
shall have the meanings indicated:
Includes an individual, any combination of individuals or
a corporation.

Any violation of this chapter shall constitute
disorderly conduct, and the person violating same shall be a disorderly
person and shall be punishable and liable for a penalty not exceeding
$50 for each offense.
