The purpose of this chapter is to protect and
promote the health, safety and general welfare of the residents of
the Town of Victor by reducing the time factor to locate an address
which an alarm has been dispatched to volunteer emergency agencies.
A.Â
New buildings. All newly constructed primary buildings
(or additions to) shall have the house number on them before the certificate
of occupancy is issued.
B.Â
Old buildings. Any existing primary buildings (or
any additions thereto) should, upon transfer of ownership or change
of occupancy, be required to have street numbers in accordance with
the following rules and regulations.

Location and size of numbers.
(1)Â
The numbers shall be a minimum of four inches high.

(2)Â
The numbers shall be a color or finish that contrasts
to the building color.
(3)Â
The numbers shall be on the side of the building that
faces the street on which the address is located.
(4)Â
The numbers shall be within 75 feet of the paved street;
installed on a post if necessary.
(5)Â
The numbers shall be numerical, not alphabetical in
the form of a figure, not spelled out.
This chapter is intended to comply with policy
of the Ontario County 911 System requirements for addresses. Should
any situation not be specifically outlined herein, numbering shall
be consistent with Ontario County 911 guidelines.
Each owner of real property located within the
Town of Victor shall be responsible for maintaining such property
in compliance with this chapter.
A.Â
Enforcement Officer. The provisions of this chapter
may be enforced by any officer of the Town of Victor appointed to
carry out such duties by the Victor Town Board.
B.Â
Commencement of proceedings. Any owner of real property
which is found to be in violation of this chapter shall be issued
an appearance ticket for such violation and shall be prosecuted in
the manner herein provided.
C.Â
Appearance tickets and process. Any person authorized
to enforce this chapter may issue appearance tickets therefor and
is hereby authorized to serve any process relating to any proceeding
pursuant to this chapter. In the event that an appearance ticket is
unanswered, the Justice Court shall permit the filing of an information
from the appropriate enforcement officer and issue a warrant of arrest
for the alleged violator.
D.Â
Prosecution of violations. A violation of this chapter
shall be punishable by a fine of not more than $25, except that for
a second violation of this chapter the fine shall be not more than
$50 and for a third or subsequent violation of this chapter the fine
shall be not more than $100. Each week during which a property shall
be found not in compliance with the posting standards set forth herein
shall be deemed a separate and distinct violation of this chapter.
