It is the intention of the Town Board of the Town of Wallkill to make
it easier for postal workers to deliver mail and to prevent mailboxes from
being obstructed by vehicles.
The Town Board of the Town of Wallkill hereby determines that it shall
be unlawful for any person to park any vehicle within six feet of a mailbox
during days of mail delivery between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Enforcement shall be by the Town of Wallkill Police Department, Parking
Enforcement and the Code Enforcement Officials.
The fine for parking within six feet of a mailbox during days of mail
delivery between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. shall be $25. In addition,
the enforcement officials may have any vehicle in violation towed at the owner's
expense.
Enforcement will not take place on Sundays nor on all federal holidays
when the United States Postal Service does not deliver mail.
