GENERAL REFERENCES
Police Division — See Sec. 4-701 of Charter and Ch. 3, Art. III, of Code.
Fire Division — See Sec. 4-702 of Charter.
The Director of Public Safety is hereby authorized to establish a police training school and a fire training school for the purposes enumerated in the following section.

No person shall be appointed to the Police Division until he or she has completed in a satisfactory manner at least ten (10) weeks of training in the police training school authorized by the preceding section. However, a person may be appointed to the Fire Division upon successful completion of his or her written examination, his or her physical examination and by proper clearance with the Division of Personnel. Prior to permanent appointment, he or she must complete in a satisfactory manner at least ten (10) weeks of training at the prescribed fire school. This training may be done while on the job within the Fire Department. This ten-week training shall also be counted towards his or her six-month probationary period.
