The Town of Hamburg does hereby establish and create a Department of Planning and Development, the functions of which are as follows: To be responsible for the planning and development of projects in the town submitted from time to time to the Town Planning Board; to be responsible for enforcement of zoning ordinances; to have in charge inspections of and issuance of building permits, electrical permits, plumbing permits, and any and all other permits pertaining to construction; issuance of permits relative to erecting, placing, altering, repairing or demolition of any building, structure or part thereof; issuance of certificates of occupancy; and the administration of all matters pertaining thereto or which from time to time may hereafter and lawfully be assigned by the Town Board.
The head of the Department of Planning and Development shall be the Director of Planning and Development, which office is hereby established.
The Director of Planning and Development shall be appointed by the Town Board and shall hold office until the first day of January next succeeding the first biennial town election held after his appointment, and thereafter, shall hold office for the term of two years and until his successor shall have qualified, provided however, that he may be removed for cause by said Town Board.
This chapter shall take effect immediately.
