GENERAL REFERENCES

As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings
indicated:
Any vehicle used or intended for the use as a conveyance upon the
public streets or highways and duly licensed as such, and shall include self-propelled
and non-self-propelled vehicles so designed, constructed and reconstructed
or added to by means of accessories in such a manner as to permit the occupancy
thereof as a temporary dwelling or sleeping place for one or more persons,
and having a foundation or on wheels, jacks or skirtings so arranged as to
be integral with or portable by said "trailer" or "camp car."
A.
It shall be unlawful, within the limits of the Township
of Boonton, for any person to park any trailer or camp car on any street,
road, avenue or highway or other public place or tract of land owned by any
person, occupied or unoccupied, except as provided in this chapter.
B.
Emergency or temporary stopping or parking is permitted
on any street, road, avenue or highway for not longer than two hours. No trailer
or camp car, while so parked within the limits of the Township of Boonton,
shall be used by any person as a dwelling house, place of abode or sleeping
place.
C.
It shall be unlawful, within the limits of the Township
of Boonton, for any person to park or occupy any trailer on the premises of
any occupied dwelling or on any lot which is not a part of the premises of
any occupied dwelling, except that the parking of only one unoccupied trailer
in an accessory private garage building or in any rear yard is permitted,
provided that no living quarters shall be maintained or any business practiced
in said trailer while such trailer is so parked or stored.

Any person who shall violate this chapter or any of its provisions shall be subject, upon conviction, to the penalties provided in § 1-15 of this Code.
Persons who enter the Township of Boonton in trailers or camp cars for
the purpose of visiting friends or members of their family who are residents
thereof shall be excepted from the provisions of this chapter, provided that:
A.
No such exception shall be permitted for a period exceeding
30 days; and
B.
Upon entering the Township for the purposes aforesaid,
such persons shall secure a permit from the Chief of Police, which permit
shall specify the date and time of expiration thereof. No permit shall be
issued unless it appears that the standards of sanitation and health maintained
by the Township will not be impaired thereby.[1]
