MUNICIPAL LAND USE LAW
As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have
the meanings indicated:
The Zoning Officer under the Zoning Ordinance (Ordinance No. 4502-79,
adopted May 1, 1979, as amended and supplemented) of the City of Clifton,[1] unless the context clearly indicates otherwise.

The definition of that term as found in the Municipal Land Use Law,
N.J.S.A. 40:55D-1 et seq., and said term is sometimes referred to in the Zoning
Ordinance (Ordinance No. 4502-79, adopted May 1, 1979, as amended and supplemented)[2] as "exception by special permit."

The City of Clifton, in the County of Passaic and State of New Jersey.
Chapter 291 of the Laws of New Jersey 1975, and any amendments or
supplements thereto, and herein sometimes cited as "N.J.S.A. 40:55D-1 et seq."
B.
Whenever a term is used in this chapter which is defined
in the Municipal Land Use Law, N.J.S.A. 40:55D-1 et seq., such term is intended
to have the meaning set forth in the definition of such term as found in said
statute, unless a contrary intention is clearly expressed from the context
of this chapter.
All provisions of the Land Subdivision Ordinance (Chapter 19 of the Revised Ordinances of the City of Clifton, New Jersey, 1960, as amended and supplemented) and the Zoning Ordinance (Ordinance No. 3287, adopted August 1, 1960, as amended and supplemented) or any other ordinance of the City of Clifton which contains provisions inconsistent with the provisions of this chapter shall be and are hereby repealed, but only to the extent of such inconsistency.
The substantive provisions of the existing Land Subdivision Ordinance, Chapter 19 of the Revised Ordinances of the City of Clifton, New Jersey, 1960, as amended and supplemented,[1] and the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Clifton, Ordinance No.
3287 entitled "An Ordinance Establishing a Comprehensive Zoning Plan and Map
for the City of Clifton, County of Passaic, State of New Jersey, Through and
by the Division of the Territory Thereof Into Various Districts and Prescribing
Certain Regulations and Restrictions Concerning the Use of Lands and the Locations
and Use of Buildings, Trades and Industries for Each of Said Districts," passed
August 1, 1960, as amended and supplemented,[2] the site plan review provisions of the aforementioned Zoning Ordinance
and all development regulations set forth in any of said ordinances are hereby
readopted and shall continue in full force and effect, and shall be read in
pari materia with this chapter.
All applications for development filed prior to the effective date of this chapter may be continued, but any appeals arising out of decisions made on any such application shall be governed by the provisions of Article IV of this chapter.
This chapter shall be known and may be cited as the "Land Use Procedures
Ordinance of the City of Clifton."
This chapter shall take effect on January 1, 1977, subject only to final
passage and publication, as provided by law.
Immediately upon adoption of this chapter, the Municipal Clerk shall
file a copy of this chapter with the Passaic County Planning Board as required
by law. The Municipal Clerk shall also file with said County Planning Board
copies of all other ordinances of the municipality relating to land use, such
as the subdivision, zoning and site plan review ordinances.

Ordinance No. 4374-76, known as the "Land Use Procedures Ordinance of
the City of Clifton," passed December 21, 1976, as amended and supplemented,
be and the same hereby is, in all of its terms and provisions, approved, confirmed
and ratified and hereby continued in effect and extended for the maximum period
provided by law as set forth and provided at N.J.S.A. 40:55D-90.
