City of Clifton, NJ Article VI Suspension and Revocation of License; Penalties

§ 413-31 Suspension or revocation of license; violations and penalties.

A. Any person who violates or permits the violation of any provision of this chapter shall, upon conviction thereof, be punished by a fine not less than $100 for each offense or exceeding $1,250 for each offense and/or being sentenced to community service for a period not exceeding 30 days for each offense and/or by imprisonment for a term not exceeding 90 days or any combination of the above. A separate offense shall be deemed committed on each day during or on which a violation occurs or continues.

B. In addition to the penalty provided in Subsection A of this section, any certificate of operation or driver's license may be suspended or revoked as provided in this chapter.

§ 413-32 Power of attorney to be executed.

Every person requiring a license within the meaning of this chapter shall execute and deliver to the City Clerk a power of attorney as required by N.J.S.A. 48:16-5 and N.J.S.A. 48:16-16, wherein and whereby the owner shall appoint the City Clerk his true and lawful agent for the purpose of acknowledging service of any process issued out of a court of competent jurisdiction to be served against said owner by virtue of the insurance policy filed.
