There shall be created and established the position
of Chief Financial Officer of the Township of Readington. The Chief
Financial Officer shall be a certified municipal financial officer
who shall carry out the responsibilities set forth in N.J.S.A. 52:27BB-26
et seq., in addition to those functions and duties prescribed by the
Township Committee.
The term of office for the Chief Financial Officer
shall be for one year and shall commence January 1 of each year.
The Chief Financial Officer shall be appointed
on the basis of executive and administrative abilities and qualifications
with special regard to training and experience in financial affairs.
In addition, the Chief Financial Officer shall be a certified municipal
finance officer as certified by the Director of the Division of Local
Governmental Services, Department of Community Affairs.
The Chief Financial Officer shall receive compensation
as is designated by the Township Committee and fixed from time to
time in an ordinance adopted by the Committee.[1]
The Township Treasurer of the township shall
also serve as Chief Financial Officer for the Township of Readington
so long as the Township Treasurer possesses the qualifications required
of a Chief Financial Officer. The term of the Chief Financial Officer
shall be concurrent with the term of the Township Treasurer.
