The Township Committee of the Township of Readington shall not be obligated to issue any license for the sale of any alcoholic beverages whatsoever, but may do so at its discretion.

A. 
Licenses.
(1) 
Plenary retail consumption licenses. The total number of plenary retail consumption licenses outstanding in and for said Township of Readington shall not exceed seven in number. Licensed premises shall be on properties located on or within 500 feet of New Jersey State Highway Routes No. 28, 523, 22 or 202, as the same run through the said Township of Readington in the Village Commercial and Business Zones.
(2) 
Plenary retail distribution licenses. The total number of plenary retail distribution licenses outstanding in and for the Township of Readington shall not exceed two in number.
(3) 
The holders of the each of the above classes of licenses shall be entitled to such privileges and be subject to such obligations as are prescribed by the Act and the rules and regulations made pursuant thereto.
B. 
Location. No license issued hereunder shall be located or utilized at a premises within 400 feet as measured from the nearest point of entrance of the premises sought to be licensed to the nearest point of entrance of any elementary, secondary or preschool or house of worship, except that such four-hundred-foot distance shall not apply to premises when such are separated by a four-lane state highway from an elementary, secondary or preschool or house of worship. This provision shall be prospective in nature.

A. 
For the purposes of this section the following terms shall have the meanings indicated.
FAMILY
Immediate family (spouse, children, parents, in-laws or siblings) as that term is interpreted by the State Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission.
PERSON
Any natural person or association of natural persons, association, trust company, partnership, corporation, organization, or the manager, agent, servant, officer or employee of any of them, as set forth in N.J.S.A. 33:2-2 et seq., and any amendments thereto. For purposes of this section, unless interpreted or promulgated by the State of New Jersey or federal law to be otherwise, a “family” is not included within the term “association of natural persons.”
B. 
No more than one retail license, whether it be consumption, distribution or otherwise, shall be granted to any person in the municipality. However, this provision shall not operate to disqualify a guardian, executor, administrator, trustee, receiver or any other fiduciary or court officer from obtaining or holding more than one license in different official capacities.
C. 
With respect to corporations, if any individual stockholder holding 10% or more of the stock would fail to qualify as an individual applicant in all respects, then no license of any class shall be granted. With respect to partnerships, organizations and associations, if any one partner or member of an organization or association would not qualify as an individual applicant in all respects, then no license of any class shall be granted to the partnership, organization or association, as the case may be.

A. 
The maximum square footage of licensed premises utilizing a plenary retail distribution license may not exceed 6,000 square feet, including storage space.
B. 
Outdoor advertising shall be limited to one permanent sign of the dimensions set forth in the Zoning Ordinance pertaining to signage.
All alcoholic beverages of any nature whatsoever shall be sold and dispensed on premises which shall be in plain view of the public, and the place of sale thereof shall not be concealed by screens or otherwise.

A. 
No alcoholic beverages shall be sold and no alcoholic beverages shall be consumed in, at or upon any licensed premises in said Township of Readington except between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and the succeeding 2:00 a.m., Monday through Saturday, and between the hours of 12:00 noon on Sunday and 2:00 a.m. on the succeeding Monday; provided, however, that alcoholic beverages may be sold and consumed until 5:00 a.m. on January 1 of each year.
B. 
Nothing herein shall be construed to create the sale or delivery by licensees of any alcoholic beverage at retail in its original container for consumption off the licensed premises between the hours of 12:00 noon and 10:00 p.m. on Sundays.
C. 
Furthermore, nothing herein shall be construed to prohibit the removal of an alcoholic beverage in its original or open container from retail licensed premises between the hours of 12:00 noon and 10:00 p.m. on Sundays.
D. 
No retail distribution licensee shall allow, permit or suffer the sale, service or delivery of any alcoholic beverage at retail in its original container for consumption off the licensed premises before 10:00 a.m. or after 10:00 p.m. on Sunday.

The fees for alcoholic beverage licenses shall be as follows:
A. 
For consumption and distribution licenses: $2,500 (plus the applicable state fee to the Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control).

B. 
For club licenses: $150 (plus the applicable state fee to the Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control).

There shall not be employed by any person in said Township of Readington any person under the age for purchasing beverages to serve, sell or dispense alcoholic beverages of any kind whatsoever.

No alcoholic beverages shall be sold, served or dispensed to any person under the age for purchasing alcoholic beverages.
The Township Committee of the Township of Readington shall have the power to revoke by resolution any license granted to any person by said Township Committee if such person violates any of the provisions of this article or any act of Legislature covering the sale, use, transportation or regulation of alcoholic beverages; and the provisions of this article shall be deemed to be in addition to any other such regulations and shall not, by implication or otherwise, exclude any other such regulations.[1]
