The name or number to be given to any road,
street, avenue, plaza, park site or to any other public place will
be authorized and passed by the governing body of Readington Township,
in resolution, and then shall be voted upon and be published in the
local newspaper, and the local citizens will have an opportunity to
be heard, and after the reading at a public township meeting for at
least two of said meetings, it will become official and permanent.
A list of particular persons, places, things
or historical events will be accepted from local organizations, religious
orders, patriotic organizations and from any individual citizen of
Readington Township, and after careful study and consideration by
the governing body, a list will be selected of the most practical
and worthy names to be adopted and the governing body will be the
sole authority of decision.
A.
Names. The name of a particular person to be selected
shall be of a person deceased at least 15 years or more. It shall
be a renowned name of fame and honor or a great name in science or
art.

B.
Places. The names of places shall be such names as
American cities, states, counties and villages or names where a historical
event took place and names of our local historical places.
C.
Things. The names of things shall be such things as
trees, flowers and others with a simple pronunciation and pleasant
sound.
The governing body shall decide when and where
signs should be located with the denomination of roads, streets, avenues,
boulevards, plazas, parks, sites or any other public places that are
under the jurisdiction of the municipal government of Readington Township.
