The responsibility for the management, control and development of the Town's recreational facilities and expenditures made in connection therewith is vested in a Parks and Recreation Commission.

The Commission shall consist of seven members who shall be electors of the Town of Old Lyme and who shall be appointed by the Board of Selectmen. Two members shall serve until November of 1975; two members shall serve until November of 1976; and three members shall serve until November of 1977. Thereafter, a member shall be reappointed or his successor shall serve for a term of three years. Any vacancies in the membership of the Commission which may occur through death, resignation or otherwise may be filled for the unexpired term of such member by the Board of Selectmen by appointment.
Appointments made by the Board of Selectmen shall be made in accordance with the provisions of Public Act 665, An Act Concerning Minority Representation, January Session, 1959 Session of the General Assembly.[1]
