In accordance with the provisions of § 1557
of the Real Property Tax Law,[1] from and after December 1, 1979, there shall be but one
Assessor in the Town of Southeast, to be appointed as provided in
§ 310 of the Real Property Tax Law.

The term of office of said Assessor shall be
six years, as provided in § 310 of the Real Property Tax
Law.
This chapter shall be subject to a permissive
referendum in the manner prescribed in § 24 of the Municipal
Home Rule Law.
This chapter shall take effect upon the expiration
of 45 days after adoption or, if submitted for approval by the electors,
upon the date of approval by the electors.
