The owner or owners, occupant or occupants or agent of every tract of land fronting on or parallel to any street, highway or public place within the Township of Pohatcong shall, within 24 hours of daylight after every fall of snow, remove, or cause to be removed, the snow entirely from the width of the existing sidewalk parallel to the roadway. Any person violating or failing to comply with any of the provisions of this section shall, upon conviction thereof, be punishable by a fine of not more than $500 or by imprisonment for a term not to exceed 90 days, or by both such fine and imprisonment, in the discretion of the Judge. The continuation of such violation for each successive day shall constitute a separate offense, and the person or persons allowing or permitting the continuation of the violation may be punished as provided above for each separate offense.
Whenever any sidewalk or any part thereof in front of any lot of land on any street or highway within the Township shall become covered or partly covered with ice, the owner or owners, occupant or occupants or agent of said premises shall cause the width of the existing sidewalk parallel to the roadway to be made safe and convenient for pedestrians by removing the ice therefrom or by covering the same with sand or other material within the first 24 hours of daylight after the formation of such ice. Any person violating or failing to comply with any of the provisions of this section shall, upon conviction thereof, be punishable by a fine of not more than $500 by or imprisonment for a term not to exceed 90 days, or by both such fine and imprisonment, in the discretion of the Judge. The continuation of such violation for each successive day shall constitute a separate offense, and the person or persons allowing or permitting the continuation of the violation may be punished as provided above for each separate offense.
In case such owner or owners, occupant or occupants or agent of any land fronting on any street or highway within said Township shall fail to remove the snow or ice or cover it with sand, ashes or other material, within the time hereinbefore required, it shall be lawful for the officer having charge of the streets of the Township to remove entirely such snow or ice from the paved portion of the sidewalk in front of said lot or lots of land.
The cost and expense paid and incurred by the officer of the Township of Pohatcong for removing such snow or ice from any sidewalk shall be ascertained by the Township Committee[1] and certified to the Assessor of the Township, and such expense shall be added to and form a part of the tax or taxes next to be levied and assessed upon the lot or lots of land in front of which such sidewalk is located, from which snow or ice has been removed by the Township, to be collected according to law and shall be a lien upon said lands until paid; and this liability of the owner or owners of said land shall be in addition to his or her liability to the fine imposed by §§ 228-1 and 228-2 of this chapter.

A. 
Owners of real property on which there has been constructed a multiple-dwelling-unit building, containing three or more units of dwelling space, which are occupied or intended to be occupied by three or more persons who live independent of each other, on which there has been constructed any private street, highway, lane, alley or other roadway which is open to the public or to which the public is invited, must remove all snow and ice from such street, highway, lane, alley or other roadway within 12 hours of daylight after the same shall fall or be formed thereon. In the event that such owner does not provide for the removal of such snow and ice, the Township of Pohatcong shall cause the same to be removed, and the cost of such removal shall be certified to the governing body of the municipality by the officer in charge of such removal. The governing body shall examine such certification and, if found to be correct, shall cause such cost to be charged against the real property of such owner, and the amount so charged, as certified, shall become a lien and tax upon such real property and be added to and be part of the taxes next to be levied and assessed thereon and enforced and collected, with interest by the same officer and in the same manner as other taxes.
B. 
Violations and penalties for multidwelling units. Any violation of this section shall, upon conviction, be punishable by a fine not exceeding $1,000, imprisonment for a term not exceeding 90 days or a period of community service not exceeding 90 days, or any combination thereof.

A. 
No one shall, by any means, discharge water onto any street, roadway or alley in the Township of Pohatcong, thus causing a hazardous condition to result, specifically, no sump pumps discharging onto streets, roadways or alleys.
B. 
No one shall plow, snow blow, or shovel snow onto any street, roadway or alley in the Township. All snow which is removed by any individual in the Township shall be placed on the individual's own property.
C. 
Any violation of this section will, upon conviction, be punishable by a fine of $100.
