License receipts shall be issued to cover only one location and only
one of the occupations or business classifications hereinafter set
out, unless stated otherwise.
B.Â
The license fees affixed are for the purpose of regulation and control
and shall be paid annually, in the amount hereinafter set forth, to
the City of Trenton for conducting or engaging in business, at the
place designated in the license certificate issued:
(1)Â
Adult entertainment: $1,000. The location must comply with the zoning requirements as set forth in § 315-135 of the City of Trenton Code Book.
(2)Â
Amusement and entertainment facilities and related ancillary uses
and devices for other businesses:
(a)Â
Adolescent recreation center: $300.
(b)Â
Amusement arcades per location (not including machines, game,
etc.): $525.
(c)Â
Fairs and festivals: $100.
(d)Â
Theaters, per location: $300.
(e)Â
Sporting stadium with seating greater than 3,000 (outdoor),
per location: $8,000.
(f)Â
Entertainment arenas with seating greater than 2,000 (concerts,
sporting events, entertainment or exhibitions for which admission
is charged or tickets are sold), per location: $5,000.
(3)Â
Food service, restaurants, bars, nightclubs, restaurant bars, hotel
bars, restaurant entertainment facilities, caterers or confectioners
not in conjunction with a restaurant, carry-out or delivery-only establishments
and public eating places where food is served in connection with or
separate from other business: $300.

If the business is a bar, hotel bar or nightclub, such activity
described shall be typed on the issued license to identify which type
of food services classification is being conducted. If a restaurant
has a restaurant bar or restaurant entertainment facility, such use
shall be typed on the issued license. No license issued by the City
for any one premises shall have more than one of the following types
of activity descriptions typed thereon: bar, nightclub, restaurant
bar, restaurant entertainment facility.
(4)Â
Gasoline service stations, including car wash and retail sales: $300.
(a)Â
Establishments that perform repairs, add an additional $200
to the license.
(5)Â
Manufacturers, manufacturing, assembly, assembly line, each location:
$500.
(6)Â
Merchants and retail sales: $300.
(a)Â
Temporary license permit [special event vendors, freestanding
(nonrolling stock) per engagement]: $25.
(b)Â
Auctioneers (not to firm or corporation; individuals only):
$125.
(c)Â
Seasonal sales (not in connection with other business issued
a license), i.e., ice cream parlor, outdoor stadium vendor: $150.
(d)Â
Distributors, excluding state-licensed medical marijuana distributors,
and including import/export with no retail establishment: $300.

Pawnbrokers (must meet state recordkeeping requirements): $500.
Proof of current registration issued by the New Jersey Department
of Revenue is required before a license is issued.[1]

Jewelry and watch repair.

Keys, locks, knives, lawnmowers, sharpening and grinding, shoe

A.Â
For all state-licensed medical marijuana business operations, the annual licensing fees established within § 146-20 of the City Code shall be reduced by the following amounts for the applicable year if the business entity can demonstrate that it falls within one or more of the following categories:
(1)Â
Any business that can provide a Minority Business Enterprise
Certification from the State of New Jersey shall be entitled to a
25% reduction of the licensure fee, or remaining fee if a reduction
has already been applied under this section.
(2)Â
Any business that can provide a Women's Business Enterprise
Certification from the State of New Jersey shall be entitled to a
25% reduction of the licensure fee, or remaining fee if a reduction
has already been applied under this section.
(3)Â
Any business that can provide proof that at least 1/3 of its
employees are residents of the City of Trenton shall be entitled to
a 25% reduction of the licensure fee, or remaining fee if a reduction
has already been applied under this section.
(a)Â
In order to receive a reduction under this subsection, the business
entity must provide adequate proof of employment and residency, in
the form of payroll history (amounts redacted) and proof of residency
demonstrating at least nine months of both residency and active employment.
(b)Â
The City reserves the right to contact any employees referenced
in order to verify employment and residency.
(4)Â
Any business that can provide proof that at least one ancillary
service contract has been awarded to a business located within the
City of Trenton shall be entitled to a 25% reduction of the licensure
fee, or remaining fee if a reduction has already been applied under
this section.
(a)Â
In order to receive a reduction under this subsection, the business
entity must provide proof of an ancillary service contract valued
over $500 for services performed for the business the previous year,
and proof of payment.
(b)Â
The City of Trenton shall confirm that the ancillary service
company is a business entity located within the City of Trenton, and
possesses a valid business license in good standing.
(c)Â
Ancillary services shall include, but shall not be limited to,
mechanical services, auto repair services, custodial services, office
furniture and/or supplies, IT services, and construction and/or repair
services.
B.Â
If any state-licensed medical marijuana business is able to satisfy
three of the above four categories, their annual licensing fee shall
be waived for that year.
