This chapter shall be known and may be cited as the "Hamilton Township House Numbering Ordinance."
The house number or address of the residence or dwelling shall be displayed on the house and mailbox. These numbers shall be of contrasting color to the mailbox and house and shall be no less than three inches in height. On mailboxes, the number shall be displayed on both sides, and on houses, the number shall be affixed to the house so as to be visible from the roadway. Where a home is located more than 300 feet from a roadway, the house need not be marked; however, if more than one home is located on a common drive, all houses must be marked so as to be visible from the lane or common drive.
Upon notification of noncompliance by a member of the Board of Supervisors and/or their authorized representatives, the notified party shall have 15 days to comply with this chapter. This notification may be in written or oral form.
Upon issuance of a building permit, the Township Building Permit Officer shall inform the person to whom the permit is issued of the requirements of this chapter.

Any person, firm or corporation who shall violate the provisions of § 47-2, following notification pursuant to § 47-3 hereof, shall, upon being found liable therefor in a civil enforcement proceeding commenced by the Township before a District Justice, pay a fine of not more than $600, plus all court costs, including reasonable attorney's fees, incurred by the Township in the enforcement of this chapter. No judgment shall be imposed until the date of the determination of the violation by the District Justice. If the defendant neither pays nor timely appeals the judgment, the Township may enforce the judgment pursuant to the applicable Rules of Civil Procedure. Each day a violation exists shall constitute a separate offense. Further, the appropriate officers or agents of the Township are hereby authorized to seek equitable relief, including injunction, to enforce compliance herewith. Hamilton Township police officers, or other appropriate officer(s) of Hamilton Township, shall have the power to enforce the provisions of this chapter.
Residents shall have a period of 30 days from adoption of this chapter to comply with same.
