Every dwelling unit, either one-, two- or multiple-family, when applying
for a building permit from the Village Codes Enforcement Office or an
electrical inspection from the designated electrical inspection agency of
the Village of Canastota, shall comply with this chapter by installing a minimum
of one 120 volt smoke detector with a battery backup system in each sleeping
area.
The installation and maintenance of the smoke detector and backup system
shall comply with New York State Code Rules and Regulations (NYCRR) No. 9,
Section 1060.3.
A.
The Code Enforcement Office being the authority having
jurisdiction shall work with the Fire Chief and Fire Wardens to inspect any
building or premises designated in this chapter to ensure compliance with
requirements contained herein and with NYCRR No. 9, Section 1060.3.
B.
Inspection shall be deemed authorized under requirements
of:
Building permit inspections
