GENERAL REFERENCES
Noncriminal disposition — See Ch. 1, Art. II.
A uniform numbering system of dwellings and principal buildings is hereby instituted in the Town of Dalton based on mapping on file with the Board of Assessors, Town of Dalton, Town Hall, 462 Main Street, Dalton, Massachusetts.
All parcels of land within the corporate limits of the Town of Dalton shall be identified by reference to the uniform numbering system adopted herein.
Each principal building shall bear the number assigned to the frontage on which the front entrance is located. In the case where the principal building is occupied by more that one business or family unit, each separate front entrance shall bear a separate number.
Numerals indicating the official number for each principal building or each front entrance to such building shall be placed immediately above, on, or at the side of the main entrance, or on each building so that the number can be seen plainly from the street line. Whenever any building is situated more than 50 feet from the street line, the number should be placed near the walk, driveway, or common entrance to the building, or upon a post, fence, tree, or other appropriate place so as to be clearly visible from the sidewalk or street line. Such number shall not be less than three inches in height and made of a durable and clearly visible material or lighted.
Violation of this bylaw shall be punished by a maximum fine of $300 for each offense or be subject to noncriminal disposition of the offense pursuant to Chapter 1. Each separate day such violation is continued shall constitute a separate offense.
