The Select Board shall cause to be printed and distributed, at least five days before the Annual Town Meeting, the reports of the officers of the various departments of the Town together with an estimate of the sums necessary to be raised for the ensuing year, and the articles in the warrant for the Annual Town Meeting. The various Town officers shall prepare the reports and furnish the same to the Select Board in season for publication.
All accounts of the Town shall be audited at least biannually under the supervision of the Director of Accounts of the Department of Corporations and Taxation, in accordance with the provisions of MGL c. 44, § 35.
The Treasurer, with the approval of the Select Board, is authorized to sell at public auction all or any of its property acquired by virtue of sale of nonpayment of taxes, which sales have been confirmed by the Land Court or the Tax Commissioner, and to give deeds therefor.
In accordance with the provisions of MGL c. 41, § 38A, the Collector of Taxes shall collect, under the title of Town Collector, all the accounts due the Town, and such Collector shall in the collection of such accounts have all the remedies provided by MGL c. 60, §§ 35, 36 and 93, together with all other remedies for such collection which are or may hereafter be provided for by law or statute.
Pursuant to the provisions of MGL c. 40, § 21E, the Town hereby establishes due dates for the payment of municipal charges and bills, which due dates will be in accordance with each official board's or commission's regulations; the rate of interest if charges remain unpaid is fixed at 14%.
Violators of this bylaw shall be subject to a fine of not more than $300 for each offense or be subject to noncriminal disposition of the offense under Chapter 1.
