City of Burlington, WI Chapter 71 Residency Requirements

§ 71-1 Fire Department employees.

The Fire Chief and all full-time Fire Department employees shall reside within the City within a reasonable time of their appointment and for the entire term of their service thereafter.

§ 71-2 Appointed employees.

Unless an ordinance specifically provides to the contrary, all persons appointed to serve in any capacity on behalf of or on a City commission, except employees, elected officials and persons subject to provisions of other laws or ordinances, shall reside within the City on the day of their appointment and for the entire term of their service.

§ 71-3 Exemption.

Volunteer fire fighters appointed under the provisions of Chapter 22, Article II, of the Code and appointed volunteer police officers are exempt from the residency requirements of § 71-2 above.
