A. 
Numbering system. There is hereby established a uniform system of numbering houses and buildings fronting on all streets, avenues and public ways in the City of Oconto Falls, and all houses and buildings shall be numbered in accordance with the provisions of this chapter.
B. 
Assignment of numbers.
(1) 
It shall be the duty of the Building Inspector to inform any party applying therefor of the number or numbers belonging or embraced within the limits of said lot or property in this chapter.[1]

(2) 
In the case of doubt as to the proper number to be assigned to any lot or building, the Administrator - Clerk/Treasurer shall determine the number of such lot or building.
C. 
Address records.
(1) 
Card file. For the purpose of facilitating a correct numbering, a card file showing the proper numbers of all lots or houses fronting upon all streets, avenues or highways shall be kept on file in the office of the Building Inspector. These files shall be open to inspection of all persons during the hours that the business office is open.[2]

(2) 
Map.
(a) 
All lots and parts of lots in the City of Oconto Falls shall be numbered in accordance with the Uniform Street Numbering Map on file in the office of the Building Inspector.[3]

(b) 
All lots and parts of lots hereafter platted shall be numbered to conform as nearly as possible to the provisions of this chapter and the general scheme of numbering as outlined on the Uniform Street Numbering Map.
A. 
North/south. The center lines of Central Avenue, Paul Street, and Green Bay Avenue shall constitute the baseline for numbering along all streets running north and south.
(1) 
All buildings and lots in the block immediately north of Central and Green Bay Avenues shall be known as located in the 100 block of North Maple Street.
(2) 
All buildings and lots in the block immediately south of Green Bay Avenue shall be known as located in the 100 block of South Maple Street.[1]

B. 
East/west. The Oconto River from the southerly corporate limits of the City to the East Side Beach Park shall constitute the baseline for all streets running east and west. The east-west baseline shall then be extended north on the center line of North Main Street to the northerly corporate limits of the City.
(1) 
All buildings and lots in the block immediately east of the Oconto River shall be known as located in the 100 block of East Central Avenue.
(2) 
All buildings and lots in the block immediately west of the Oconto River shall be known as located in the 100 block of West Central Avenue.
C. 
Diagonal streets. All buildings and lots on diagonal streets shall be numbered the same as north and south streets if the diagonal runs more from the north to the south and the same as on east and west streets if the diagonal runs more from the east to the west.
D. 
Street numbering.
(1) 
The numbering for each street shall begin at the baseline. The numbers within the first block shall be from 100 to 199 and the numbers in each succeeding block shall increase from the baseline in units of 100, namely, the first block shall be 100 to 199, the second block shall be 200 to 299, the third block shall be 300 to 399, etc. There shall be assigned 100 numbers to each block, square or space that would be one block or square, if streets each way were so extended as to intersect each other, and one number shall be assigned to each 15 feet of frontage. In blocks or equivalent space longer than 750 feet which is not intersected by a street, the total length of space divided by 50 shall be used to determine the feet of frontage assigned to each number.
(2) 
All lots and houses on the north and west side of all streets shall be numbered with odd numbers, each commencing with the hundred assigned to that block, and shall increase from the baseline one number for each 15 feet of frontage or fraction thereof, except as provided in Subsection A(1) above.
(a) 
Where any building has more than one door serving separate occupants, a separate number shall be assigned to each door serving a separate occupant, provided that the building is 15 feet or more in width.
(b) 
If the building is not 15 or more in width and the entrances are not that far apart, the next consecutive number shall be marked fractional.
(c) 
Buildings fronting on two or more streets shall have a number assigned only to the main entrance, unless other entrances serve different occupants.
(3) 
Where only one number can be assigned to any house or building, the owner, occupant or agent of such house or building who shall desire distinctive numbers for the upper and lower portion of any such house or building, or for any part of such house or building fronting on any street, shall issue the suffix "A," "B," "C," etc., as may be required.
(4) 
Any street not extended through the baseline shall be assigned the same relative numbers as if said street had extended to said baseline.
A. 
Existing structures. The owner of every structure, house, dwelling, and business establishment in the City shall cause to be designated on or attached to such structure street numbering of the type, style, and location as assigned by the City and required by this chapter, and the owner of such structure shall maintain such street numbering in a good and readable state of repair.
B. 
New structures.
(1) 
At the time of application for a building permit, the Building Inspector or his/her representative shall assign the official street number for the premises.[1]

(2) 
It shall be the duty of the builder or owner of every new structure, dwelling, or business establishment in the City to fasten said number or numbers so assigned upon said structure as provided by this chapter within 20 days of completion of construction.
C. 
Annexation. Within 20 days of annexation to the City of Oconto Falls, it shall be the duty of every building owner to procure the correct street number or numbers as designated from the Building Inspector for the property annexed and to immediately fasten said number or numbers so assigned upon said structure as provided by this chapter.[2]

A. 
The numbers shall be conspicuously placed immediately above or within one foot on either side of the proper door of each building so that the numbers can be seen plainly from the street.
(1) 
All street numbers shall face the street reflected in the proper address of the structure or property.
(2) 
Street numbers shall be placed on the exterior wall of the structure. Placement of street numbers within a foyer or alcove even when the outer walls of such foyer or alcove consist of a transparent material does not conform to the standards of this chapter for exterior wall placement.
(3) 
The Building Inspector shall specify the location in which all street numbers shall be placed on a structure that cannot comply with the requirements of this section.[1]

B. 
The figures or words which shall be used to comply with this chapter shall indicate and readily identify the number of the structure in the words and numerals accepted in the common usage of the English language.
(1) 
All figures or words shall be no less than three inches in height.
(2) 
All figures or words shall be clearly distinguishable and in a contrasting color to the background surface of the underlying structure.
(3) 
All letters and numerals shall be clearly readable from a distance of 50 feet.
C. 
Whenever any building is situated more than 50 feet from the street line, the number of such building shall be conspicuously displayed at the street line, near the walk, driveway, or common entrance to such building and upon a post specifically designated for such purpose so as to permit the number to be easily discernible from the street.
It shall be the duty of all police officers of the City of Oconto Falls to report violations of any provision of this chapter. Citations for violations will be issued by the Oconto Falls Police Department.
Penalties for the violation of this chapter shall be the same as provided for in § 1-9 of this Code.
